The Lesser Slave Regional Fire Service is a unique service within the province of Alberta, made up of two different municipalities the LSRFS operates as a single service and is funded by both the Town of Slave Lake and The Municipal District of Lesser Slave River. We have five fire stations across our service area, covering over 500km of primary and secondary highways within the region. Our combination service consists of 8 full-time staff, 75 paid-on-call firefighters and 25 volunteer search and rescue members. The LSRFS offers various emergency responses from structure fires, wildland fires, vehicle fires, motor vehicle collisions, medical co-response and specialty incidents such as water, rope and hazardous materials response. We also operate three specialty teams that are comprised of protective services members from emergency response agencies throughout the region; these consist of Water Rescue (ice, swift and boat rescue), Technical Rescue (rope and confined space rescue), and Hazmat (all hazardous materials response).
