Slave Lake RCMP makes an arrest in a car vandalism investigation

Slave Lake, Alta. – Over the past few weeks, Slave Lake RCMP has received complaints of cars being vandalized, with windows being smashed and, in some cases, goods being stolen. On Feb. 7, 2026, Slave Lake RCMP received a report of a vehicle whose window had been smashed, but nothing had been taken. Investigation revealed CCTV footage of the area, allowing officers to identify and arrest a suspect.

As a result of the investigation, Justin Ronald Dunlop (42), of no fixed address, was charged with mischief under $5000. He was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody, to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Slave Lake on Feb. 11, 2026.

“The Slave Lake RCMP investigate every complaint received,” says S/Sgt. Casey Bruyns, Detachment Commander of the Slave Lake RCMP. “This file highlights how valuable video surveillance can be, as CCTV footage helped bring this investigation to a quick conclusion.”
