Slave Lake RCMP makes drug-related arrest.
Slave Lake, Alta. – On Oct. 11, 2025, Slave Lake RCMP received a call regarding a vehicle that collided with a parked car. RCMP attended and located two individuals fighting. One of the individuals, later confirmed to be the driver of the vehicle, fled the scene on foot but was quickly caught and arrested by the members on scene. A search of the suspect upon arrest revealed over 60 grams of cocaine, a replica firearm and drug-trafficking paraphernalia.
As a result of the investigation, Phillip Anthony Curtis (51), a resident of Slave Lake, was charged with:
- Assault;
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking;
- Failure to comply with breath demand;
- Fail to remain at the scene of a collision;
- Carrying a concealed weapon; and
- Obstruct and resist peace officer (2 counts total).
Curtis was brought before a justice of the peace and released on conditions. He is to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Slave Lake on Nov. 12, 2025.
“I would like to thank the various members of the public who called the incident in,” said S/Sgt. Casey Bruyns, Detachment Commander of the Slave Lake RCMP. “This allowed our RCMP officers to respond quickly and efficiently, stopping the assault in progress as well as arresting the individual responsible. This arrest also removed drugs and an imitation firearm from our streets, effectively making our community safer."
