Slave Lake RCMP on scene of motor vehicle collision - Update
Slave Lake, Alta. – Slave Lake RCMP advises that the motor vehicle collision involving a logging truck and an SUV is now clear.
Preliminary investigation reveals that on Dec. 30, 2025, at approximately 6:30 a.m., an SUV was heading Westbound on Highway 2 when it appeared to have lost control on black ice and crossed over into the oncoming lane. The first Eastbound vehicle swerved to avoid a collision, while the second Eastbound vehicle, a logging truck hauling logs, was unable to avoid the collision. The driver of the logging truck called 911, and other vehicles stopped at the scene. Emergency medical crews arrived on scene shortly thereafter. The 19-year-old male driver, a resident of Slave Lake, travelling in the SUV that collided with the semi, was declared deceased on scene.
The investigation into this collision is ongoing. Road conditions are believed to be a contributing factor in this motor vehicle collision fatality.
