[ARCHIVED] Slave Lake RCMP CRU arrests individuals breaching court orders

RCMP Summer 2024 - 1

Slave Lake, Alta. – On Sept. 17, 2025, Slave Lake Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) members were on patrol when they observed a female who had an active warrant. The female tried to flee the residence and area but, upon seeing RCMP members, returned inside. Containment was established with the assistance of Slave Lake RCMP members. A warrant to enter the residence was being sought when the suspect exited the residence. While on scene, several people were identified, some of whom were breaching court orders, and others with active warrants. A total of 4 people were arrested on scene, three of whom have since been charged, and the fourth has charges pending.

As a result of the investigation, Sarah Ladouceur (24), a resident of Smith, Alta., Alex Scott (38), and Dusty Yellowknee (28), both residents of Slave Lake, were charged with failure to comply with a court order.

All three were brought before a justice of the peace. Ladouceur and Scott were released on conditions, while Yellowknee was remanded into custody. They are to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Slave Lake, with Ladouceur and Scott appearing on Oct. 15, 2025, and Yellowknee on Sept. 24, 2025.

“We would like to let the public know that we are addressing their concerns regarding offenders within our community,” said S/Sgt. Casey Bruyns, Detachment Commander of the Slave Lake RCMP. “Thanks to our Crime Reduction Unit, as well as the ever-watchful eyes of our regular members, we can make sure that those out on various court orders within our community are following the conditions of their release and, should they choose to breach them, being charged accordingly."
