Slave Lake RCMP seizes drugs after traffic stop
Slave Lake, Alta. – On May 16, 2025, Slave Lake RCMP members were on patrol when they conducted a traffic stop on a red Dodge Caravan. The driver was unable to give proof of registration, a bill of sale or insurance. Investigation revealed that the alleged Registered Owner did not own a vehicle fitting that description. The occupants were arrested and the vehicle was searched incidental to arrest, revealing over 115 grams of heroin and drug trafficking paraphernalia.
As a result of the investigation, Matthew Arthur Fairweather (42), a resident of Edmonton, and Jeremy Michael Ladeur (36), a resident of Slave Lake, were charged with Possession of heroin for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of possession of stolen property under $5000. Fairweather was additionally charged with failure to comply with release order.
Fairweather and Ladeur were brought before a justice of the peace. Fairweather was remanded into custody while Ladeur was released. They are to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Slave Lake on June 11, 2025.
