Slave Lake RCMP make arrest following patrols for suspicious male
Slave Lake, Alta. – On Nov. 23, 2024, at approximately 9:48 p.m., Slave Lake RCMP received a report of suspicious male in the area of 1A Avenue. Police attended the location and conducted patrols to locate the suspect. The individual was later located inside of a truck with an obscured licences plate. Officers initiated a traffic stop and determined that the driver was suspended from driving. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the seizure of ammunition and brass knuckles. The suspect was arrested without incident. During the search of the suspect, officers also seized numerous tablets, which are believed to be a controlled substance.
Jonathan Dwayne Laboucan, a 39-year-old resident of Sandy Lake, Alta., has been charged with the following offences:
- Weapon possession contrary to order x5
- Possession of a prohibited weapon when knowing possession unauthorized
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
- Possession of weapon in a motor vehicle
- Possession of a controlled substance
Jonathan Dwayne Laboucan was taken before a Justice of the Peace and was released on a Release Order with conditions. He is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 19, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Slave Lake.
