Slave Lake, Alta. - On April 14th, 2020 the RCMP responded to a theft of a semi tractor trailer, filled with fresh produce from the Wal-Mart parking lot in Slave Lake. Members of the Slave Lake and Athabasca RCMP detachments attended the semi’s location on Highway 2.
Slave Lake Members patrolled the highway and located the semi travelling eastbound. Members maintained a visual of the semi until the Athabasca Member arrived and a traffic stop was initiated. The semi pulled into the Fawcett truck stop and Members arrested the driver of the vehicle. The suspect attempted to use the ID of the owner of the semi to identity himself after his arrest.
Tyler Day has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, obstruction, identity fraud, possession of stolen property, and breach of court orders. Tyler is currently remanded into custody following a judicial interim release hearing.
The Slave Lake RCMP continues to investigate this matter including identifying the individual(s).
