Slave Lake Healthcare: October 2019 Update

Important News

The second, and final, required General Practitioner with Anesthesia physician has been recruited and is expected to start in January 2020. We are still working to fill the vacant Family Medicine physician position; the top two candidates have been interviewed. The position is posted on doctorjobsalberta.com.

In addition to these physicians, there are three Nurse Practitioners currently providing care in Slave Lake:

Cheryl McDowell (full-time)

Louise Peterson (full-time)

Brittney Tradewell (full-time), returned from leave on Oct. 15.

We are working towards a staffing complement of six Nurse Practitioners.

We successfully recruited one full-time Nurse Practitioner and they are expected to start at the end of November. We are waiting on the determination of another candidate’s ability to practice in Alberta before we can proceed with an offer. One Nurse Practitioner remains on leave.

We are recruiting an additional casual Nurse Practitioner. An offer is currently being negotiated.

Until we are able to return to a full staffing complement, the current Family Care Clinic hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. will remain in effect. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope to resume regular hours as safely and quickly as possible.
