The Town of Slave Lake Administration has contacted Alberta Transportation to obtain more details on the planned highway maintenance for our region this construction season. The following information has been provided.
- Alberta Government has retained a contractor to overlay 14 kms of Highway 2 this year. The scope of the project includes crack repairs, cold milling, asphalt paving, grading, street light installation and other works. The east paving limit extends approximately 4 kms east of Main Street. The west paving limit extends approximately 10 kms west of Main street. The project is expected to begin this summer and complete by the end of construction season. Please see the map for a detailed drawing of the areas expected to be paved. Paving HWY 2 Map
- The traffic signal located at the junction of Highway 2 and Main Street, once in a while is experiencing some technical problems. The signals fall under Alberta Transportation’s jurisdiction. The Town administration has followed up with the maintenance contractor allotted to this highway. The contractor assured that they are further working to resolve this issue.
- The Town administration has also followed up with Alberta Transportation regarding any expected work on Highway 88. Alberta Transportation is expected to schedule some maintenance work this year. The maintenance work is anticipated to address potholes on the Highway 88.
