Slave Lake, Alta. - On January 30th, 2021 at approximately 12:13 PM, the RCMP were called to a tow yard in Slave Lake for a theft in progress. Members of the Slave Lake Detachment responded and located a vehicle with two female occupants inside.
After speaking with the complainant, the RCMP were advised that there was a third person involved who fled the scene prior to police attendance and was hiding in the area. The complainant also advised that the three suspects were allegedly stealing catalytic converters off the impounded vehicles.
The third suspect was located a short time later and all three were arrested and transported to the Slave Lake Detachment. A judicially authorization was obtained and granted by a justice of the peace, Slave Lake RCMP members executed the search warrant on the vehicle that the suspects were driving. The RCMP located catalytic converters, break-in instruments and a small quantity of suspected methamphetamine inside the vehicle.
All three suspects were charged under the Criminal Code of Canada and were held for a judicial interim release. Two suspects were remanded into custody and one was released. Two are to appear in Provincial Court via CCTV on February 3rd, 2021 while the other is to appear in Provincial Court in March, 2021.
