Important Update about the Aquatic Centre

Aquatic Centre Closure Update

The Town of Slave Lake would like to provide an important update on the status of the Northern Lights Aquatic Centre.

The Town of Slave Lake and Northern Lakes College are actively working together to reopen the Northern Lights Aquatic Centre. Due to ongoing upgrades to the boiler system at the College the Town must at this time inform residents that the Aquatic Centre  will remain closed for the remainder of 2020.

The projected timeline for the completion of the boiler upgrade is still unknown.

Earlier this year Northern Lakes College received a grant from the Government of Alberta to upgrade the boiler systems in the college which includes the system that operates the pool mechanical system.

This is a large project and we are grateful for the funding to help improve the aging aquatic centre system.

The upgraded boiler will allow the Northern Lights Aquatic Centre to be more efficient, will help reduce costs, and improve building operations which affects water and air temperatures.

The Town of Slave Lake understands that this announcement is not optimal, but the boiler upgrade will be beneficial to the longevity of the Aquatic Centre.

We appreciate your patients and we will continue to work with the college to complete this project in a timely fashion.
