Slave Lake, AB – During the week of August 17th – 24th the Slave Lake RCMP received ninety eight (98) calls to service. Of these calls, impaired drivers, uttering threats and thefts were the most prevalent. The following are a sample of some of these calls:
August 18th, 2020 - Suspended Driver
While on patrol, the RCMP witnessed a vehicle driving at night without its headlights on. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver of the vehicle was a suspended driver. The driver was charged and the vehicle was towed for 30 days. The driver is required to attend court in October.
August 19th, 2020 - Traffic Violation
The RCMP received several reports of a vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road on Highway 2. Members made patrols of the highway in the last known direction of travel of the suspect vehicle and located it approximately 50 kilometres east of Slave Lake. The male driver was not impaired but the RCMP had concerns about his ability to drive at night. The male was advised to park his vehicle and was driven to Slave Lake to continue his journey in the morning. The driver was issued a violation ticket for driving left of the center line.
August 22nd, 2020 – Assault Causing Bodily Harm
The RCMP were called to a residence where a male assaulted another. The victim was taken to Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The suspect male was located after the offence and was arrested and charged. He is scheduled to appear in court in October.
August 22nd, 2020 - Uttering Threats
The RCMP received a report of road rage at an establishment drive through. The suspect threw food at the complainants vehicle and threatened to damage his vehicle as well. Members attended and spoke with the complainant who only wished for the suspect to received a warning. The RCMP located the suspect and a warning was given.
