Economic development is the ongoing effort of improving the economic wellbeing and quality of life of a community by building local prosperity, diversifying the economy, creating and retaining jobs, and building the local tax base.

Ways to achieve economic development are by increasing local businesses and entrepreneurship, diversifying into additional industries, identifying strategic developments and manufacturing opportunities for existing industries, and creating destination events and activities.

The focus of the Town’s Economic Development Officer (EDO) is to identify opportunities, generate interest, connect people and businesses and to help transform that interest into business transactions in the Town of Slave Lake and the Slave Lake Region.
