Lesser Slave Lake Search and Rescue

The Slave Lake Firefighters Society is a member of SAR Alberta, and responds to search and rescue call outs as requested by the RCMP.

The Search and Rescue team is comprised of fire department members and a number of interested volunteers. The group meets regularly to train for various land, water or air search and rescue scenarios.

Through cooperation of a number of agencies including police, government departments, cooperatives, private industry, local groups, and individuals; there is access to a number of search and rescue resources and assets. This includes aircraft, boats, ATVs, communication equipment, FLIR, etc.

Fire department assets include: SAR trailer/command center, side by side ATV, ATV ambulance trailer, response vehicles, fire apparatus, thermal image camera, sled and toboggan, compasses/gps, ice rescue, ropes and harnesses, communication equipment, coveralls, SAR vests and personnel.
