JOINT PUBLIC HEARING
A Joint Public Hearing will be held on Wednesday, January 28th at 4:30 PM, in the Town of Slave Lake Council Chambers, 10 Main St SW. Tri-Council Regional Growth Plan Agreement, and Intermunicipal Development Plan Bylaw between the Town of Slave Lake and Municipal District of Lesser Slave River.

REGIONAL GROWTH PLAN AGREEMENT AND INTERMUNICIPAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN
The Municipal District of Lesser Slave River No. 124 and the Town of Slave Lake are considering adoption of an Inter-Municipal Development Plan and of a Regional Growth Plan Agreement.
The purpose of the InterMunicipal Development Plan is to outline a cooperative framework for the coordination of planning and development that is of joint interest between the Town of Slave Lake and the Municipal District of Lesser Slave River No. 124.
The purpose of the Regional Growth Plan is to provide policy guidance for how the Local Governments, Tri-Council and the CAO Secretariat are to collaborate on regional initiatives, regional land use development and related regional services.

The Regional Wellness Advisory Committee will be implementing the second phase of their Regional Wellness Needs Assessment and conducting Community Focus Groups to help our Advisory Board better understand the Wellness Needs within our Region.
Community Focus Groups will be held in the following communities:

WHITECAP MOTORS WILL BE SPONSORING THE RUNNING TRACK FOR SENIORS FOR 2015
The Town of Slave Lake Community Services Department is pleased to announce that Whitecap Motors will be sponsoring the running track for Seniors for the 2015 year.
As of January 2, 2015, Seniors (Ages 60+) that wish to use the running track, will have an annual pass issued. Memberships for the running track that were previously purchased since the rate increase in September, will be considered for refunds on an individual basis.
Arrangements for the passes can be made at the Multi Recreation Centre front desk.

REGULAR MONTHLY SIREN TESTS
Regular Siren Test are always:
Once a month, on the second Thursday, at 12:00 PM- Noon
These tests will last for 20 seconds.
Next test will be Thursday, February 12, 2015.

WOMEN HONOURING WOMEN FALL 2015
A partnership between the Slave Lake Friendship Centre and the Northern Haven Support Society.
This Free program runs from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm every second Tuesday at the Slave Lake Friendship Centre. Materials for all sessions are provided free of charge. All women are welcome, and on-site child care is provided. Snacks are also provided for both women and children in different rooms.

NEW ONLINE BYLAW COMPLAINT SYSTEM
The Town of Slave Lake has a NEW Online Bylaw Complaint System in place – this system can be used by the public to register by law complaints for the Community Peace Officers online rather than phoning in.
Examples of Bylaw complaints include but are not limited to dogs barking excessively, dog at large, property with dangerous snow or ice on the sidewalk, parking violations and untidy or unsightly property.

Tri-Council Regional Wellness Scholarship:
The Regional Wellness Advisory Committee awards scholarships to students enrolled in health, wellness or social service programs.

The Tri-Council Regional Training Initiative funds assist and support individuals, or community groups to have the financial means to attend, have access, or acquire wellness related training initiatives. Funds may also be made available to individuals who are in educational programs that have an end result of employment within health, wellness or education fields.

The purpose of the Tri-Council Regional Wellness Grant is to assist and support both individuals, and community groups in creating regional wellness initiatives. The wellness grants will support the opportunity to develop and implement activities in the community that support wellness and improve quality of life for community members.

Please note the Slave Lake RCMP will only accept/process information for Criminal Record Checks on Tuesdays. All requests and information for Criminal Record Checks must be dropped off and picked up by the individual on Tuesdays between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:30 pm.
