Slave Lake RCMP Weekly Update – May 17th to May 23rd, 2020

RCMP News Release (Summer)

Slave Lake, AB – During the week of May 17th – 23rd the Slave Lake RCMP received seventy four (74) calls to service.  Of these calls, assaults, mischiefs, and liquor act complaints were the most prevalent.  The following are a sample of some of these calls:

May 17th, 2020 – Erratic Driving Complaint

The RCMP received a report of a possible impaired driver. The suspect vehicle was driving erratically and failed to stop at the red light. The call originated in the Red Earth Creek area so Members from that detachment were contacted to investigate. 

May 21st, 2020 - Assault

The RCMP was received a report of two males assaulting each other in a residence. Members attended the scene and one of the males was gone upon our arrival. The other, declined medical assistance and did not want to proceed with charges at this time. Both individuals were impaired by alcohol.

May 21st, 2020 - Motor Vehicle Collision

The RCMP received a report of a two motor vehicle collision in the NE quadrant of town. Members attended and conducted an investigation. One driver was charged with failing to yield the right of way under the Use of Highway and Rule of Road Regulation.

May 23rd, 2020 – OHV Driver without Helmet

While conducting patrols, the RCMP initiated a traffic stop on two off highway vehicles where the operator was not wearing a helmet. The drivers were issued violation tickets and given warnings for other observed offences.

Alberta is now at stage one of the planned Province reopening. Several businesses in town are allowed to open but must take precautions to keep Albertans safe.
