Slave Lake, AB – During the week of December 31st – January 6th the Slave Lake RCMP received one hundred and three (103) calls to service. Of these calls, impaired operation of a 911 calls, mischiefs, and liquor act offences were the most prevalent. The following are a sample of some of these calls:
December 31st, 2019 - Assault
The RCMP received a report advising an assault occurred. The victims ex-partner assaulted him, causing injuries to his face. Members took the victim to the Hospital where he was treated. The victim declined to press charges and only wanted the occurrence documented.
December 31st, 2019 - Breaching Conditions
The RCMP received a call requesting assistance from town Peace Officers. Members attended and assisted town Peace Officers with a male who resisted them while he was being placed under arrest. The male was on conditions, which he was breaching and he was released on court documents. He is scheduled to appear in court in February 2020.
January 3rd, 2020 - Suspended Driver
While on patrol, the RCMP observed a vehicle fail to stop at a red light. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver of the vehicle was a suspended driver. Three violation tickets were issued and the vehicle was seized for 30 days. The driver is to appear in court February.
January 4th, 2020 – Causing a Disturbance
The RCMP received a report of several homeless individuals fighting outside the town Library. Members attended and spoke to the victim. He declined charges and asked that he be relocated from the area. The victim was driven to another location in town.
During the week, the Slave Lake Detachment received several reports of motor vehicle collisions. The RCMP would like to remind the community that when you are involved in a collision, if the damage is estimated to be over $2000, it must be reported by those involved. Failure to report an accident when capable may result in a $388 violation ticket being issued to the driver of the vehicle, or the registered owner.
