Slave Lake, AB – During the week of December 15th – 22nd the Slave Lake RCMP received ninety-four (94) calls to service. Of these calls, traffic collisions, break and enters, and mischiefs were the most prevalent. The following is a sample of some of these calls:
December 19th, 2019 – Traffic Collision
The RCMP were notified of a two vehicle collision in the Mitsue area. Members attended and determined through their investigation that one of the vehicle drivers did not abide by the “Use of Highway and Rules of the Road” regulation and was issued a violation ticket.
The RCMP received an anonymous call advising of a single vehicle collision north of Highway 88. Members attended and located the vehicle and occupants. The driver struck a cement block and sustained minor injuries. Alcohol was not a factor in the collision.
December 20th, 2019 – Break & Enter
The RCMP received a report of an individual sleeping in their empty garage during the early morning hours. The RCMP attended and found a male attempting to enter the garage and was subsequently arrested. He was released on court documents and is scheduled to appear in court February 2020.
December 21st, 2019 – Mischief
The RCMP received a report of several individuals consuming alcohol in the Library bathroom. Members attended and advised these individuals to leave. They did so without further incident and were warned not to consume liquor in public.
During the week, that Slave Lake Detachment received several reports of individuals using vacant or empty buildings to keep warm during these colder temperatures. The RCMP are reminding everyone that the MAT program is available after 7pm if citizen’s need a warm place to stay. Please keep an eye on your properties and ensure doors and windows are locked on all garages and vacant homes. If you believe someone is inside, contact the RCMP.
