RCMP arrest one following a pursuit in Slave Lake


Slave Lake, Alberta -   One person is in custody following a hazardous pursuit through Slave Lake on Sunday night. The occurrence began at approximately 8:00 PM when a complaint of an impaired driver on Holmes Trail was received.  Responding members located the suspect vehicle which refused to stop and fled at a high rate of speed.  Members pursued the suspect vehicle into town where it was observed diving in an erratic and dangerous fashion.  On 6th Avenue SE, the suspect vehicle drove through a field and knocked over a tree before striking the side of a police vehicle.  The pursuit continued into the Southwest and Northwest quadrants of town before members disengaged.


A short time later, the suspect vehicle was located parked on the Sawridge First Nation.  The individual identified as the alleged driver of the vehicle was arrested; however, he attempted to resist arrest and assaulted one of the responding members. 


A 19 year old male resident of Slave Lake is currently in custody with charges pending.  These charges include flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer. 


During this occurrence at lease one civilian vehicle was struck by the suspect vehicle.  Should anyone have information regarding this occurrence or if you have been victimized by the suspect vehicle please contact the Slave Lake RCMP at 780-849-3999.
