Slave Lake, Alberta - One person has been charged with multiple weapons related offences following the execution of a search warrant in Slave Lake on Friday, August 31. Shortly after noon, officers executed the judicial authorization at a residence where several firearms and prohibited devices were located. In addition to the weapons and devices, controlled substances were located along with Canadian cash.
"The execution of this search warrant was the culmination of targeted enforcement and intelligence gathering. By gathering and compiling information received by our officers, we were able to successfully bring this investigation to the prosecution stage" says Staff Sergeant John Spaans of the Slave Lake RCMP Detachment.
Justin James of Slave Lake has been charged with 23 offences under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Charges include, but are not limited to, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a prohibited device/weapon, unlawful storage of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance.
Court for Mr. James is on September 5, 2018 at the Slave Lake Provincial Court.
