RCMP NEWS RELEASE

RCMP arrest alleged impaired driver operating a gravel truck

Slave Lake, AB -  On June 19, 2018 at 11:30am, the Slave Lake RCMP received a complaint of an erratic driving semi tractor trailer hauling gravel on Highway 88.  Members patrolled the highway and located the suspect vehicle; initiating a traffic stop.  The driver displayed signs of being under the influence of alcohol and was transported to the RCMP Detachment for further testing.

Breath tests revealed a blood alcohol concentration nearly three and a half times the legal limit.

"Impaired driving is incredibly dangerous.  What makes this occurrence especially concerning is the type of vehicle being operated. This was a very dangerous situation that, thankfully, came to a safe conclusion", S//Sgt John Spaans.

Charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle are pending against the 46 year old male driver.
